We do have to install gedit first, however: It works like a charm on Linux Mint 13 64 bits. But maybe it is better to notice that before running install. Had to compile the Ralink drivers for RT and blacklist the rt and rt2x00 modules. However, I suspect it has something to do with the Kernel version.

I was able to connect to unprotected networks then but I couldn’t connect to my WPA2 protected network, it kept repetitively asking for the password, while I had entered the correct one. The firmware for this device is missing. Works well with the stock Madwifi drivers. Driver – For linkx PCI device: Cant get this work!

Thnx for the great tutorial! I did everything it erimax but when I run sudo bash esimax. If it is not in the man pages or the how-to’s this is the place! Can anyone suggest me a current distribution in the sense it’s available as a lot of the advice I’ve found is years old and out of date, can anybody help? Otherwise there will be a error 2 message and it fails to install the driver.
The problem was that Ubuntu seems to be able to use the USB to see the networks around me, but when I tried to connect to my network either when the router had the password on or off — it just kept trying and failing to connect.
I am having really bad screen tearing issues on my laptop. Eq-7711utn did I — until I found it hinted somewhere. Installer did not detect network hardware but it came to life by itself on first boot and I could see a list of networks in nm. Bellow are the steps I needed to take in order to solve the problem in the smoothest fashion — I hope others might benefit from it in the future.
